BIO
Mark Indigo is an old van lover, a kiter on the beach, a writer, a participant in street ambiance, and a skateboarder. Besides, Mark is a guitarist, a singer, a didgeridoo player, and a percussionist. All at once. In short, he can musically be described as a one-man-band.
However, he prefers to entitle himself as a modern-day troubadour. Just like the troubadours in the olden days he travels from place to place, bringing music to the people, using modern-day techniques like a car, an amp, batteries and electronic equipment.
At the age of seven, Mark discovered the acoustic guitar. It was his first big love. Always evolving, Mark developed his own percussive fingerstyle guitar playing style, both rhythmic and atmospheric. He loves exploring his own limits and those of the guitar while managing to play a chord progression, bassline, melodies and rhythm parts.
Ten years ago, Mark mastered the fine art of circular breathing on the didgeridoo. Since then he is able to make a drone that lasts forever. This everlasting drone was at the very basis of his previous handpan impressions, and nowadays at the underlayer of his later compositions, alongside with guitar, beats and vocals.
What started a few years ago as a gimmick, is now fully integrated in Mark’s setup: foot drums. The beat and the clap, snare or rimshot are nowadays a permanent and crucial part of his music and the main reason people feel like dancing and vibing along.
On top of all the music magic, Mark uses his vocal cords to sing. Having had years of insecurities about his voice and vocal abilities, Mark has taken the plunge and started singing anyway, developing a singing style within years of performing that could only be described as his own. No complicated melodies there, but more intuitive and connected notes that define his singing style.
Besides all this, Mark is a serious fun-loving chap who loves to connect with nature but also with urban life. Mark loves to collect organic food waste, to make sure the goods aren’t grown for nothing and to enjoy a healthy lifestyle without spending excessively. This whole eclectic mix is being creatively expressed through his music. What he wishes for the world is what he’s living – and bringing. Connection, peace and inspiration.
Mark sounds like Xavier Rudd, John Butler and especially himself.
